Electric bulb

In the early days, before electric bulbs were in use we had candles and lanterns to light up our homes. These candles and lanterns allowed people to see in the dark, but they weren’t particularly bright — and potentially dangerous. And then came a marvel that lit up their life - the electric bulb! This single invention changed how people lived forever.

The first practical electric bulb was created by the famous US inventor Thomas Edison in 1879. This bulb featured a special component known as a carbon filament within an enclosed glass structure. The electric bulb led bulb lights filament glowed white hot when electric current flowed through it, illuminating the surrounding workshop. It was a new invention that shocked and thrilled people. It transformed the way they worked, learned and socialized with their families.

Types of Electric Bulbs and Their Uses

Yet, Edison’s bulb had one crucial flaw. It burned out fast, so it didn’t burn for long. It also wasn’t very good at energy savings. Edison's work inspired many inventors worldwide who wanted to improve upon the electric bulb. They redesigned them and experimented with different materials to try to make them better. In 1925, was invented the tungsten filament bulb. This new bulb lasted significantly longer and used energy more efficiently, making it a better choice for consumers.

Fluorescent Bulbs: You also have the option of using fluorescent bulbs. They also last a long time and are very good at saving energy. They operate differently and employ ultraviolet light. That ultraviolet light interacts with a coating on the inside of the bulb, making it glow brightly. Fluorescent bulbs are used by many people in their homes and offices because they last longer and consume less energy.
